Sarah's place! - Kathmandu

Sarah's house is goooorgeous! Yes, HOUSE! Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an office, a patio with gardens, kitchen, dining room, living room, aaaaand avocado tree! WHOA. I love all of the glass wall-windows and the natural light in this modern house. She may only have electricity for a few hours a day... but the house is gorgeous and had a great feel.   : )   Her lovely dog, Ellie, helped with that feeling too!

Kathmandu DOGS

I posted previously about how mean the Kathmandu street dogs seemed to be... but most of the dogs that I went by at the temples were sleeping during the day and seemed to take in the peacefulness of the temple - thankfully! I like that the doggies chose temples and stupas to relax in shade during the heat of the day.

Walking around the Patan area... there are many temples!

a stupa - Kathmandu

A stupa is a Buddhist shrine... originally housing cremated relics of Buddha. There are many, many stupas around Kathmandu - some main ones and then some smaller ones. I stumbled on a small stupa while walking around the Patan area...

The curly nose on the stupa is a symbolic number 'one'... as in that we are all 'one'... as well as a meaning for the absoluteness of Buddha.

Kathmandu's wires

I did not expect so many pieces of Kathmandu to remind me of Saigon. One example (other than just the 'feel' in the city) is the mass of wires lining streets and, especially, intersections.
