Charles Bridge is a popular tourist attraction in Prague... and I, as a tourist, fully enjoyed the stroll across!

Construction of the bridge began in the mid-1300's... there is a tower on each end of the bridge... and numerous statues along either side.

Today, there are also many vendors on the bridge selling art pieces and jewelry.

Also - for Charles Bridge... the photos of the bridge and surrounding buildings with a haze of fog around... it stunning. I saw many paintings of this view as well. ...But I'm still glad that we had a gorgeous sunny day!

Tyn Church, Old Town Square - Prague

The Tyn Church (or... the full name: Church of Our Lady in Front of Tyn) is a dominant piece of the Old Town Square. It is a magnificent gothic church from the 1300's.

The sky was beautiful and blue yesterday with some clouds here and there... but when I took photos of Tyn Church, the sky looked blue, covered with dark gray clouds - somehow perfectly fitting for this gothic church. Very cool.

Prague's Old Town Square is very pretty - and full of visitors!

This city is bizarre in that there are people all over... yet it rarely feels crowded... and it seems to be more quiet than possible for a capital city buzzing with tourists.

Tower Babies - Prague

While having lunch on the rooftop balcony, Jaye pointed out a tower that looked quiet out of place in the city... she had me take a photo of it and zoom in...

...and you can see BABIES climbing up the tower! Hahaha. Truly. (See if you can spot the crawling babies in the 2nd photo below.)

Jaye told us that there had been a contest for a sculpture on the tower (I think)... David Cerny's plan for 10 crawling babies won... and then they were so popular, this temporary installation became permanent. (I pretty much love that!)

balcony lunch with a view! - PRAGUE

Two of my friends in Milan recommended the same place to eat in Prague: Maitrea.

I suppose this will have to wait until next time though... it was closed when we tried to go.

Instead, we went to a restaurant off of the Old Town Square... and it had a rooftop balcony overlooking the square and the city. It was awesome.   : )

It was great to see the Astronomical Clock Tower during the day. It's gorgeous.

daytime Prague

Wow. The weather has been unbelievable since arriving in Prague. Thankfully!

I guess the winters here are usually cold and gray.

Well - there has been sunshine, blue skies... and yesterday I didn't even wear a jacket! A sweater was enough... and after the sun went down, I added a scarf and some knit mittens.

I love this city. It is gorgeous, the food is yummy, and not only is the city walkable... but the public transport system is great as well. It took a bus and a metro ride to get to the center of the city - super easy.

Yesterday the conference ended mid-day and I was able to get into the city with Jaye and Nathalie during the daylight hours! Yes!

Walking around, I really loved the variety of colors among the buildings -- often with the red roof, decorated with amazing details, and set in rows side-by-side.

IB Conference - Prague, Czech Republic

I am attending a Librarians' session at this IB Conference (through Ibicus) in Prague, Czech Republic. So far so good with the conference. I am a believer in the IBO's overall mission and programme... and enjoy learning more about it and how I can help at school as the Teacher-Librarian.

The conference is held at the International School of Prague. Gorgeous school... gorgeous library! (Oh, and the weather has been gorgeous as well!)
