Fossar de les Moreres, Barcelona

The Fossar de les Moreres square is set almost like an outdoor amphitheater... sloped bricks making up a large circle dip into the middle, where a sculpture comes out... arching smoothly over towards the side of a cathedral, and holding an eternal flame on the end.

(And there was a field trip of kiddos when we were at this spot too...)

This square is actually built over a cemetery. 1,000's of people died in this spot in an attempt to defend the city in the early 1700's.

A favorite photo of mine from the trip... (I love those doors!)
